XDI supports Indigenous Voice to Parliament in Australia

By Dr Karl Mallon, CEO, The Climate Risk Group

This Saturday, on October 14, 2023, people from across Australia will head to the polls to vote on whether to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Constitution through a Voice to Parliament.

As a values-based organisation that firmly believes in the role of business in advancing social change, The Climate Risk Group (XDI, Climate Valuation) is strongly supporting a YES vote.

“The Climate Risk Group has teams and offices in Australia. Today, in Australia, First Nations peoples are absent from the Constitution and do not have an adequate voice over matters that affect their lives. We now have an opportunity to change this. We encourage all Australians to take this historic opportunity to support a more inclusive and equitable future and vote YES,” says CEO Dr Karl Mallon.

The Climate Risk Group also strongly believes that a treaty must be established between the Federal Government and the First Nations people of Australia. The Voice and a treaty are not mutually exclusive, and the more representation and legal standing First Nations people have only improves our community.
